Life-changing — A family adopts a ten-year-old boy who was abandoned

This touching story is from Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States. It’s about a little child named Andrew who has been in state custody since he was six years old. He had four siblings, all of whom were adopted, however no one adopted Andrew.

His parents were no longer involved, and their parental rights had long since been revoked. This is the story of how a joyful family found Andrew and welcomed him into their home.

The protagonists of this narrative are Dominique and Kevin Gill, who have two children, Joc and Kynnedi, and were interested in fostering children. In 2018, they heard about Andrew and decided to become his foster parents. Andrew was a shattered youngster at the time, having suffered from a variety of earlier traumas that had left him in a horrible place. Dominique said the following about Andrew in an interview with Today:

“During his first week with us, he sat in his room with the door shut, looking at old photographs,” says the narrator.

“He refused to speak.”

Dominique described how they felt as follows:

“We assumed we’d assist him until he got his forever home. After the second adoption failed, I understood Andrew was placed in our lives for a reason. God made sure the adoption didn’t work out in order for him to return to us.”

He went on to say:

“Andrew has always said, ‘Thank you for accepting me,’ ‘Thank you for not giving up on me.’ People would be scared away after reading his file.” But I knew he was a lovely boy who had been through a lot.”
