When the firefighter who rescued her shows up to adopt her, the sad shelter puppy becomes overjoyed
According to moneysavingbasics.com, firefighters were responding to an emergency call when they came upon a shivering dog abandoned by the side of the roadway in the rain.
Her heartless owner had not only abandoned her, but had also chained the three-month-old to a tree, preventing her from fleeing her precarious condition.
On a cold day in Sacramento, firefighters came upon Chunk the dog but couldn’t stop since they were responding to an emergency call.
But the brave firefighters didn’t forget about the terrified dog, and after finishing their call, they returned to liberate her and take her back to the fire station to warm her up.
Mike Thawley, a firefighter, describes how the puppy was shivering and triggered Chunk’s rescue.
Sadly, this pup need more than just warmth; she was suffering from severe mange, which had resulted in the loss of its fur, which had been neglected along with everything else.
She was transported to an animal shelter and treated for mange before being examined to ensure she was in good health.
But there was one person who couldn’t stop thinking about Chunk while he slept.
Mike Thawley, a firefighter, had to return to visit his four-legged pal.
The Sacramento Fire Department wrote on their Facebook page, “We all just kind of fell in love with her.”
When Chunk saw the firefighter who had saved her, she couldn’t stop wagging her tail. Mike, who was joined by his wife and three daughters, wasn’t simply paying a visit; he wanted to adopt the dog.
Chunk was well enough to leave the shelter and return home with Mike and his family after four months.
