After his owner passed out, a loyal Golden Retriever refuses to leave her
On Chinese social media, a video of a faithful golden retriever refusing to leave its owner’s side after she passed out on the sidewalk recently went viral.
In a video uploaded online by Pear Video, the dog owner can be seen laying unconscious on the ground in the Heilongjiang city of Daqing, as her faithful pet stands guard. When paramedics arrive and attempt to transfer the woman into the ambulance, the devoted dog tries several times to leap onto the stretcher before finally entering the ambulance with its owner, refusing to be separated.
When a nurse and her colleagues arrived on the scene, the golden retriever began surrounding its owner. They were frightened that it might fight them in order to protect her. When the paramedics got closer to check on the woman’s vital signs, they noticed the dog was just waiting for them to come to her aid.
What doctors say
“We don’t accept pets into ambulances under regular circumstances,” a doctor called Shao said. “However, we could tell the dog genuinely cared about its master and would assist her in staying awake. So we decided to make an exception.”
When the woman awoke, she immediately shouted out for her beloved dog, and the two hugged. The woman then revealed to doctors that she had been drinking the night before going for a walk with her dog.
‘At first, we were reluctant to approach the woman directly since the dog is quite enormous,’ Yu Jingjing, a nurse from the Daqing People’s Hospital’s emergency department explained to reporters.
‘However, while the dog was extremely protective of its owner, it showed no signs of violence toward us,’ she continued.
‘When we approached the woman on the ground, the dog seemed relieved that we had arrived to assist her.’
To keep the ambulance crew safe under typical circumstances, no pets are allowed on emergency medical transports, according to Yu.
