Sugar is similar to alcohol for children, it damages the liver and brain

And it’s that, while we generally limit children’s access to huge amounts of sweets, we never imagined that their consumption may have effects similar to those of alcohol.
According to a study conducted in the United Kingdom, sugar consumption in youngsters can have a harmful impact on their liver and brain, similar to the effects of consuming alcoholic beverages.
This is because, like alcohol, the liver is in charge of metabolizing fructose, a sugar molecule. As a result, consuming more of this substance causes it to become overloaded in its other functions, one of which is to eliminate toxins from the body.

A sweet diet is dangerous for the future, which is why youngsters who consume a lot of sugar are more likely to develop liver disease and diabetes. This was corroborated by a study conducted in Italy, which looked at 271 adults with an average age of 12.5 years.
This study’s participants all ate high-sugar, high-carbohydrate diets. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a disease that can develop fibrosis and cirrhosis, was found in 37.6% of those tested.

To prevent this scenario, parents and adults must exercise greater control over what their children consume. Especially when it comes to non-natural snacks, such as those found in industrialized meals; an industry whose products are marketed to kids and include a high level of sugar.
It is vital to encourage kids to appreciate the variety of flavors of fruits from an early age in order to ensure a healthier life for them. Foods that contain vitamins and minerals that are essential for their proper development, in addition to a natural sweet.
