At The Met Gala, Ryan Reynolds was stunned to see Blake Lively’s outfit transform
Blake Lively has joined the ranks of individuals who recognize the ‘Glided Glamour’ theme for the MET Gala in 2022. Fans were overjoyed to see the Gossip Girl actress and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, return to the red carpet.
Ryan dressed up in a velvet Ralph Lauren suit and a white waistcoat for the evening, evoking the Gilded Age.
In a custom copper Versace gown with a big bow on the hip, Lively made a statement.
Her gown was stunning, but it only got better when she revealed a whole other appearance below with the help of stylists. The color of Lively’s dress was changed to a gorgeous green silk. It matched the subject of Fashion in America well, and Lively reportedly told E! that her garment was a homage to New York City.
“So I arrived in copper and then it [patinated] to a verdigris,” Lively explained, referring to the color of the Statue of Liberty, which has been stained by oxidation.
“This is the constellation from Grand Central Station,” she continued. The Statue of Liberty is part of the Empire State Building’s architecture. There are a number of small references to New York City.” While the metamorphosis has since gone viral, Ryan Reynolds was one of the few people who observed it and couldn’t contain his joy.
The Deadpool actor’s jaw fell as he stood back and watched his wife demonstrate the transformation.
Ryan was spotted beaming and clapping as Lively posed for the cameras, seeming stunned. If their supporters needed another reason to love them, this episode has surely given them one. However, they had agreed to co-chair the event with Anna Wintour. This year’s subject was Anthology of Fashion in America.
The couple has previously declined to attend the star-studded gala, most recently in September.
