A woman had a severe allergic reaction to lip filler, resulting in her looking like ‘Monster Inc.’ character

In November 2021, Kailee Jones had fillers for the first time because she felt her lips were too thin in comparison to the rest of her face. She had 1ml injected over her top and bottom lips, and her lips swelled dramatically within an hour of the visit.

The 23-year-old thought she was having an allergic reaction to the filler at the time, and that her attempts to reduce swelling with ice only made things worse.

Kailee, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was unable to speak or drink for the next 48 hours due to her sore and swollen sausage lips. The swelling, according to most of her friends, made her look like Fungus from the Disney Pixar film Monsters, Inc. After being dragged into a scream extractor machine, the three-eyed villain was left with huge, red lips.

The technology consultant, on the other hand, uses her tale and the horrifying images of her lips to educate people about the risks of filler allergies.

Kailee sought guidance from her doctor as her lips swelled and grew uncomfortable, and she was eventually prescribed a week-long course of oral steroids to reduce the swelling. The doctor also warned her that the significant swelling on her lips, which they feared might spread to her neck, could cause her throat to close.

But, happily, after three days, the bump began to fade and the response disappeared without the need for additional therapy or the filler to be dissolved.

“The pictures don’t even really show how big they were, it was crazy. It was very painful. I was scared it was going to go to my throat, which is what doctors said it could do and my throat could close basically.”

“That was my biggest fear and then also just thinking, are they stuck like this? They went down after three days and then after that I wasn’t too bad.” Kailee’s family and fans were both taken aback by the size of her lips, especially after she shared images of her reaction on social media.
