After the Oscars fiasco, Adam Sandler expresses his support for long-time buddy Chris Rock
Adam Sandler, a well-known comedian, expresses his admiration for Chris Rock, a long-time buddy. The actor, who plays Happy Madison, just posted a photo on Instagram promoting Rock’s next comedy tour. Sandler’s captioning was basic, as he explained:
“Can’t wait for this. Love you buddy!”
Sandler and Rock have been friends for decades and have collaborated on numerous projects together throughout their careers. During the early 1990s, the two of them were regulars on the legendary Saturday Night Live comedy show.
Since then, the two of them have made a name for themselves in the world of film and television. Grown-Ups, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, and The Longest Yard are some of the films in which this comic pair has appeared.
Chris Rock has been in the news recently following an altercation with Hollywood legend Will Smith. The uproar originated from a dramatic incident at this year’s Academy Awards, in which Smith delivered an unexpected smack to Rock’s face while on stage in front of millions of people watching on television around the world.
The slap came in response to a joke made by Rock about Smith’s wife, Jada, who was also in attendance at the event, having her head shaved. Jada Pinkett-Smith has openly stated that she suffers from alopecia, a disorder that affects hair growth. Smith took exception to the joke and walked onto the stage to slap Chris Rock in the face.
The comic appeared genuinely shaken by what had just happened. Smith then went on to shout at Rock, telling him to stop making jokes about his wife. Smith was asked to leave by the show’s organizers and Academy members following the altercation, according to reports. The performer, on the other hand, declined to do so and remained seated for the duration of the performance.
Smith was widely rumored to be the frontrunner to win one of the night’s most prized honors in the weeks leading up to the event. Smith would go on to win the Best Actor award and give a speech to an audience that was still processing everything that had happened. Smith’s acceptance speech focused on the character he played, which earned him the prize, and how this guy went to great lengths to protect his family.
Chris Rock has yet to issue a public statement regarding the sad circumstances. His tour tickets have gone up in price, and it’s been reported that he’ll be talking about what happened at the Oscars while on the road. He did not, however, press charges against Smith, according to reports.
Smith has reportedly announced his resignation from the Academy, according to Variety. He stated:
“I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film.”
