Shakira reveals the one reason she and Gerard Piqué ‘fight’
Shakira and Gerard Piqué are together since 2011 and have two children.
“Don’t Wait Up,” Shakira’s most recent hit, rings a little too true for her longtime love Gerard Piqué.
The singer said in a new interview that they don’t always agree on timeliness because of their different upbringings — she’s Colombian and he’s Spanish — which sometimes lead to disputes.
“My poor husband, lover, baby daddy, or whatever you want to call him, has to wait so long for me. He’s fed up with waiting “On the podcast Planet Weirdo with Holly H., she stated with a laugh. “Because Colombian time differs from Catalan and Spanish time.”
Piqué, 35, is used to a strict, disciplined routine, according to Shakira, 45, because he has long been a member of a soccer team. (He has been a member of FC Barcelona since 2008.)
“That’s how his thinking works, and it’s the same way with mine… Since meeting him, I’ve been a lot more punctual,” she stated “However, when we do fight, it’s because I’m late and he’s waiting up.”
The singer of “Hips Don’t Lie” also stated that her career runs in a unique way, with days of the week blending together and weeks and weekends blending into one.
“I’ve always worked,” she explained. “It doesn’t matter if I have to work on a Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, it’s the same.” “As a result, I entirely lost track of time.”
She has been married to Piqué since 2011, and they have two sons, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7. The two met on the set of her music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” which was the 2010 FIFA World Cup’s official song.
In July, Shakira released “Don’t Wait Up,” her first solo single since 2017 and her first English-language hit since 2016’s “Try Everything.”
On the Planet Weird podcast, she remarked, “It’s the kind of music I’ve been wanting to compose for a while.” “I wanted to develop an electronic song with a ’90s vintage vibe,” she says.
