Reunited at the same hospital – Four young girls who beat cancer together
Today’s touching story is from 2018, yet it is so inspiring that it must be shared. It tells the story of four young girls who faced one of life’s most difficult challenges: cancer. This story is from St. Petersburg, Florida, in the United States.
These four young ladies met for cancer treatment and had their photos taken together. After battling cancer for two years and defeating it, they met two years later at the same hospital for another photoshoot, this time to commemorate their triumph!
Lauren, Chloe, Ava, and McKinley are the story’s little heroes. At Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, the four gathered to begin their cancer treatments at such a young and vulnerable age. But, like the heroes they are, they triumphed against the deadly sickness and remained cheerful throughout their treatment.
Alyssa Luciano, Ava’s mother, spoke with Fox13 News about their harrowing journey and the contrasts between the first photo and the ones taken following treatment:
“They were all on active treatment the first time we did this, it’s amazing to see how far they’ve come from being bald little babies.”
Lauren’s mother, Shawna, also expressed her gratitude for being able to see the girls’ unity:
“This is our third year. They have just come so far, all of them. She’s 3 years old and doesn’t have any hair, but all of her friends in the hospital look the same way so it kind of gave her some normalcy.”
Karen McKinley, the McKinleys’ mother, spoke about how reassuring and beneficial it was for the parents to have each other’s support and love:
“Just having other moms to relate to has been phenomenal. Just to have other people going through it at the same time as us.”
