Jenna Dewan describes how she found her soulmate, Steve Kazee, seven years after their initial meeting
Jenna Dewan is an actress and dancer who is best known for her appearance in the film Step Up. She is also well-known as Channing Tatum’s ex-wife. This is her story of finding her true love after her breakup with Tatum, when everyone thought she’d never find love again.
After being married for nine years and having a daughter, Jenna and Channing were quite upfront about their divorce in 2018. Dewan noted to Health how they’re both human and have imperfections just like the rest of us:
“We’re not perfect! Are you kidding? We fight like other couples, we disagree about things, we have days where we don’t really like each other.”
“It is a great fit as long as you are growing together, and I think up until this point we’ve really grown together. Even if one starts to grow, the other catches up and vice versa.”
Jenna spoke to HARPER’S BAZAAR about her divorce:
“I feel a sense of joy and freedom and excitement, truly, about a new chapter in my life,”
“And I have no attachments to how that’s going to look, or what that’s going to be. I feel really open, and I feel hopeful.”
The first time she met with Steve Kazee
Jenna had gone to Broadway seven years before to watch Once, a production starring award-winning actor Steve Kazee. Jenna reminisced about the eventful night and what happened next when speaking with US Weekly:
“He was in a show called Once on Broadway, seven years ago, and I went to see the show, and I was blown away by him and his talent, crying my eyes out,”
“And I took my mom, and we got to meet him. ‘Oh, my God, you were amazing!’”
“Years later, I’m single and everything’s different and he reached out to me,”
“He was like, ‘I never forgot meeting you.’ That was a really cool moment. Like I say all the time, ‘The universe works in very mysterious wonderful ways.’”
Soon after their talk, the two began dating, recognizing that they shared a strong emotional bond. Steve welcomed Everly into his life with open arms and was pleased by her presence. He wrote an impassioned statement expressing how he felt about Everly’s presence in his life:
“Jenna also brought with her one of the greatest gifts one could ever imagine… her beautiful daughter,”
“Evie burst into my life like a supernova and has continued to burn so brightly in it. I have learned so much about parenting already from watching how amazing Jenna is with her and Evie has taught me so much about what it means to love and communicate with a child and I can’t wait to give her a sibling and make our little family a little bit bigger.”
In 2020, the couple got engaged and welcomed their first child, Callum. Jenna gushed about Steve and their son:
“Seeing you become a father is one of the greatest things I’ve ever witnessed. The depth of emotion you feel, the love you share, the insane ability you have to do it ALL for all of us… we are so lucky.”
Jenna’s narrative is one of loss and self-discovery; she never lost up on herself or her love. She followed her feelings, which led to a happy life with Steve. We wish the pair all the best in the future!
