Children of Russian oligarchs post remarks on Instagram against the invasion of Ukraine
Regardless of their ethnicity, origin, or parents’ social level, a growing number of Russian influencers are expressing their opinions on the war. Children of oligarchs are expressing their desire for the war to end and Vladimir Putin to pull his soldiers from their neighbor’s territory.
Maria Yumasheva, the daughter of government advisor Valentin Yumasheva, speaks out against the war.
Valentin Yumashev was a key actor in Putin’s ascension to power. Yumashev was a close confidante of Boris Yeltsin’s and even married her daughter, Tatyana. Yumashev firmly endorsed Vladimir Putin as the next presidential candidate, calling him a “superb” choice.
His 19-year-old daughter posted a photo of the Ukrainian flag on Instagram with the comment “No more war” and a sad heart emoji.
Maria Yumasheva was not the only one who disagreed with their president.
Sofia Abramovich, the millionaire soccer club owner’s daughter, has also spoken out.
Since 2003, Roman Abramovich has been the owner of Chelsea Football Club. Roman, on the other hand, has a distinguished political career in Russia, having served as a Kremlin spokesman and as the former governor of Chukotka.
“Putin wants a conflict with Ukraine,” the 23-year-old wrote on her Instagram story, crossing out Russia and replacing it with Putin.
The message went on to say, “The largest and most successful falsehood of Kremlin propaganda is that most Russians support Putin.” Her father is currently being investigated by the British government for possible sanctions since he appears to be hurrying to sell Chelsea and a few of his London houses.
Elizaveta Peskova, the daughter of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, has taken a stand as well.
The 24-year-old hasn’t posted anything on her Instagram account other than a single Instagram story with the hashtag ‘No to the War.’ But even that was short-lived, as Elizaveta never explained what happened after the story was deleted an hour later.
Elizaveta’s Instagram account was recently made private as well.
Elizaveta Peskova, the daughter of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, has taken a stand as well.
Her position as the daughter of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov demonstrates that Russia’s next generation holds a far different view than Putin would like Russians to believe.
Aside from oligarch daughters, former presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak has also criticised Putin’s actions.
On Instagram, she wrote, “The main theme was a real confrontation with Ukraine, about which no one, including myself, was convinced until the very end. When Russia acknowledged the self-proclaimed republics of Donbas, it appeared like a halfway point had been reached.”
“It was the start of everything. A military conflict started.”
She went on to say, “Stocks have fallen, the EU is preparing penalties, anti-war pickets have erupted across Russia, and the RKN has threatened to punish journalists who report on unapproved viewpoints. What’s ahead, and how will today’s seemingly interminable day end? Calculation is impossible. The only certainty is that people are perishing.”
Sobchak was last seen leaving Russia with her kid to Turkey, where she said she was only “temporarily moving away.”
