After her microblading treatment went terribly wrong, the mother of two was devastated
When her microblading treatment completely damaged her face, a Texan mother of two was horrified. The 37-year-old put the blame on the doctor, who refused to recognize their error, and is now stuck with the botched job for at least a year.
The dental hygienist had gone for a microblading session in order to save time getting ready as a working mom.
But she never expected things to get this terrible. She posted about it on Instagram to warn others about the practitioner, whom she described as “family.”
“I’d been considering getting microblading on my brows for a while,” the woman explained. “I discovered that filling in my brows and making sure they were in the appropriate shape took a long time as a busy mother. Microblading seemed like an excellent idea to me.”
“I could never have predicted that they would turn out the way they did. It was frightening. The next day, when my three-year-old daughter saw me, she was terrified and freaked out.”
“I’m now having to go through removal treatments in order to break down the pigment, and I may need laser treatment. It could take up to a year to improve their appearance.”
She revealed that she tried microblading for the first time in November, but it failed due to bleeding and the pigment didn’t last. So she had another session in December, but it didn’t work since the pigment didn’t stay, despite the great effect.
“The semi-permanent make-up artist stated she conducted some research on how to make the pigment last longer and mentioned the nanoblading process.”
When the equipment came in April, she finally got her turn, and she received treatment “late and last minute.” During their conversation, Crystal realized that the brows were overly thick and told her that she didn’t want them that way.
“I stated that I only wanted my brows filled in rather than enlarged. Because she would be filling in within the lines, I was told they wouldn’t be too thick. I was in a good mood, and I was eager to see my brows ” she went on.
She could tell the blades were spinning “a bit too fast,” but she opted to trust the process. The artist urged her “not to stress out” a few hours later.
“She feared she might have gone too high with the hair stroke,” she remembered saying, “but it was fine because she would order remover to repair it.”
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first looked in the mirror. It was frightening.”
She began looking for aid as soon as she recognized her situation was more serious than anything she could discover online. Crystal discovered Her Velvet Hands in Houston and immediately scheduled an emergency removal. Botch Ink also gave her the saline solution for breaking down the color.
Her most recent attempt was to travel to Beverly Hills Microblading in California, which is around 2,5k miles from her residence in Houston.
She had just completed her second removal session with Erica Kovitz after signing up. “She is determined to assisting me on my reversal journey and has even set up a GoFundMe page for the travel fees I will pay for the duration of the process,” she stated.
“I’m in the process of waiting for it to heal. Everything is a waiting game. I’m attempting to determine my future steps. It could take a year of removals and laser treatment to fix it.”
While she didn’t enjoy sharing this experience, she hoped that it would serve as a warning to others against hiring unprofessional artists.
“Although sharing my story is embarrassing, I hope it makes people realize how vital it is to check credentials and show new artists that their clients are actual people who have to face with the consequences,” Crystal warned others.
