Video of a woman’s ‘shark hand’ go viral on Tik Tok
Most of you have probably heard of Sadie Kemp, who is just over 100k views away from exceeding 85 million views on TikTok. A woman who was brought to the emergency room with a kidney stone. It quickly deteriorated and developed into sepsis.
The Petersborough mom-of-two had no idea she’d have to undergo amputations to preserve her life.
Many others thought her morbid joke was a bold way of conveying her issue while yet keeping things light. The 34-year-old, who formerly worked in healthcare, reveals the backstory to her shark hand.
In one video, she said, “I woke up perfectly great.” When she felt a strong ache in her kidney, she went straight to the doctor. She was diagnosed with a kidney stone and admitted to the emergency room, where she was scheduled for surgery.
But, just hours later, Sadie’s situation took a turn for the worst when sepsis struck her limbs mid-operation.
Her doctors were obligated to put her in a coma for 11 days, yet they still had to amputate all of her left fingers.
To ensure her blood circulation, her hands were sewed into a pouch within her stomach. However, this resulted in a high fever, which gave rise to the nickname “sharkie.” Her second hand was still attached to her groin, sewed inside her body.
“I looked at it for the first time and moved what was left of my thumb and was just like ‘Wow, that looks like a shark,'” Sadie explained.
Nothing could be more fitting for her great sense of humor than making a shark joke right now. While fighting the infection and recovering, she became a source of inspiration for many, from “Jaws” to the song “Baby Shark.”
“I made a video of my story, and I’ve been told it’s trending, which is incredible,” Sadie explained.
Things, on the other hand, are not looking good because she may lose her legs in addition to going through a divorce, losing her home, and losing her job.
She is, however, still battling and keeps everyone up to date on her progress. Sadie, on the other hand, has been learning and adapting to the changes she’s faced.
