Pups who have been reunited
More than 3,000 people offered to adopt 78 bulldogs seized from a backyard breeder in California in 2017. In December, a group of approximately a dozen lucky pet owners and their rescued pups got together to commemorate their journey. WAGS shelter manager Cortney Domey told the Orange County Register that the dogs had urine-soaked paws, no fur, and wounds everywhere a year ago. “They were in crates, having never been touched by humans. They were supposed to be used for breeding. Take a look at what a year of love can accomplish.”
Back-to-school haircuts
Last August in San Jose, California, Anthony Ledesma, Victor Erwin, and Aaron Flowers offered their time at the sixth annual Kutz4Kids event. For children returning to school, fifteen barbers provided hundreds of free haircuts.
Heroes of the earthquake
Frida the rescue dog and her trainer Israel Arauz Salinas went viral for their life-saving actions following the 2017 earthquake in Mexico City, which had a magnitude of 7.1. During her career, the 9-year-old Labrador has discovered the bodies of 52 individuals, and the duo was recently honoured with their own statue for their dedication to the Mexican navy.
Unexpected Superhero
In 2017, members of the Aurora Police Strategic Response Team devised a unique technique to delight patients at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Four officers donned superhero costumes and rappelled down the building’s edge, greeting children as they went.
Professional cuddlers
By offering support to babies in the intensive care unit, the volunteer NICU Cuddler program at CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange, California, frees up nurses and aids tired families. The approved cuddlers hold, sing, and calm little children, which, according to research, reduces hospital stays.
