Akiyoshi Kitaoka, a psychology professor at Japan’s Ritsumeikan University, shared an unusual photograph on Twitter with the caption “one of my portraits.”
Many commentators stated that, despite their best efforts, they could only see the squares, causing their eyes to suffer.
The teacher also gave them the solution: all they had to do was scroll up and down on the image to see the portrait.
The optical illusion is comparable to the Magic Eye puzzles that were popular in the 1990s.
