The Thai monk’s TikTok becomes viral after a rumor surfaced that he is 163 years old
Luang Pho Yai of Thailand has become an online sensation when videos of him went viral on TikTok, generating rumors that he is over 163 years old. However, even the man himself cannot verify it because his birth certificate is no longer relevant.

However, the Thai monk in these videos and photographs is a real person, and Luang Pho Yai is over 100 years old.
Auyary KH, his granddaughter, is the only one who can affirm this. The woman posted about her grandfather for the first time on social media to document his recuperation after falling and breaking his hip bone. But, much to the family’s astonishment, the man’s popularity skyrocketed, with people unable to stop themselves from speculating how old he is.

She’s also confirmed that her grandfather is 109 years old, not 163, as previously reported.
The page has also grown in popularity, with Auyary currently having over 798.5k TikTok followers, many of whom are eager to follow the monk’s journey. Unfortunately, Auyary witnesses a lot of unpleasant and cruel comments from people about his age. However, this does not negate the reality that many people are genuinely concerned and interested in the man’s well-being.
Luang Pho Yai has also improved significantly since then. He’s been eating and can do some basic activities in his bed.

Luang Pho Yai did not do any of the supposed self-mummification rituals, but what is that?
Buddhist monks in Japan practice self-mummification, albeit occasionally. It’s also known as shoukusibutsu, and it’s considered harsh in practice because monks are dehydrated while also abstaining completely from fat. The monks will then enter a pine box buried in the ground, where they will meditate until they take their final breath.
Kane Tanaka of Japan, who is 119 years old, is the oldest verified person living right now. She is a resident of a nursing home in Fukuoka, Japan.

Juan Vicente Pérez Mora of Venezuela is the world’s oldest living person. While France’s Jeanne Louise Calment is the oldest person ever certified to be alive. Jeanne was born in 1875 and died in 1997, when she was 122 years old.
We hope Luong lives a long and healthy life and, who knows, becomes the next living legend!
