Tony Hudgell was just 41 days old when he was taken to Evelina Children’s Hospital in London with multiple fractures in his arms and legs. His joints were dislocated and his whole body was injured. The little boy had been tortured to death by his parents.

The boy was abused by his original parents when he was less than two months old. According to Bild, Jody (24 years old) and Tony S. (47 years old) abused their kid when he was 41 days old and left him in agony for ten days.

When Tony was delivered to the hospital, he had many fractures, organ failure, and infections, and he was in risk of dying for three months. The small fighter, on the other hand, made it. And now, at the age of seven, the young kid has changed the law in the United Kingdom.

“I cried when I first met him. But in a few hours I knew I would never leave him.”

Tony’s adoptive mother, Paula Hudgell, wrote, “Tony came into our lives when he was four months old.”

Paula lives in Kings Hill, Kent, with her husband Mark and their seven biological children. Tony was adopted and welcomed into their family in 2016.

Tony’s doctors had to amputate both legs due to the severe injuries he sustained in the attack. He was only two years old at the time. Furthermore, the boy is unable to hear with his right ear and can only move with crutches or a wheelchair.

Tony, on the other hand, is a happy youngster today.

Tony walked 10 miles with prosthetics and crutches last year to raise money for Evelina Children’s Hospital in London. Donations brought in 1.7 million euros.

It was only the beginning, as a second fundraising drive to refurbish the house was launched shortly after. A unique bed, a specially modified bathroom, and an elevator are all required for the boy. He also requires extra assistance at school. The family would need roughly 220,000 euros for this, and they are almost there: thus far, they have raised around 185,000 euros collectively.

Tony’s law

Jody and Tony S., Tony’s biological parents, were sentenced to ten years in prison in 2018 for torturing their son. They may be released in September 2022 as a result of their good behavior in prison.

Paula Hudgell can’t face the concept. As a result, he began a campaign to amend the law: “For such a heinous act, ten years is insufficient. I wanted the maximum sentence for child abusers to be increased to 14 years.”

He was able to modify the law with the support of MP Tom Tugendhat.

Tony met with Justice Minister Dominic Raab on Tuesday. He confirmed the new legislation, which is currently being considered in the House of Commons and is expected to be passed soon.

“It’s for Tony and all the babies and children who have suffered and died as a result of the aggressors,” Paula explains.

The maximum penalty for several acts of child maltreatment will be increased under Tony’s law.

According to BBC News, the maximum prison penalty for people who cause or allow the death of a child will be increased from 14 to life in prison. The punishment for those who do major injury to minors will also be increased from 10 to 14 years.
