A dying father fights death just long enough to see his daughter for the first time
It’s never easy to have a family member diagnosed with cancer. One of the most painful things to go through is watching them struggle and become a shadow of their former selves. Cancer is, without a doubt, a terrifying experience. And, because so many people are unable to overcome the sickness, it is even more devastating. This is a painful but touching story of a dying parent. Gather your tissues because this story will undoubtedly move you to tears.
While this story is from 2019, it is still important; it is still tremendously moving and will make you cry, just like it did for those featured on GoogleBox’s Stand Up to Cancer special presentation. The program depicted the devastating impact of cancer on both the cancer victim and their loved ones. Brett, a kind parent, was the subject of this article. Brett was the father of three kids. He was also gravely ill due to a brain tumor. He just had a few moments with his third daughter, Arya, before passing away. Many people were moved to tears by the episode on GoogleBox, which depicted his fight with illness throughout the years until his death in early 2019. The most tragic aspect of this story was that the dying father managed to meet his daughter girl just in time.
The journey of a dying father
Brett and Nicola were both newly qualified teachers. They quickly realized their love for one another after being best friends for a long time. It wasn’t long before the couple married and announced that they were expecting a child. Brett, according to Nicola, is the ideal father. She claims she noticed certain changes in him as their time together progressed. But she didn’t think much of them. Until he went to the doctor one day. Brett received the news that he had a brain tumor that day. The dying father was advised that surgery to remove the tumor could induce death sooner than planned, which confirmed the couple’s worst concerns.
“We sat down with his neurologist and they went through the extremes of what the surgery could lead to. We almost started to panic and they took as much of the tumor away as they could. When the tumor grew back, when I was pregnant with Arya, it was more aggressive. It couldn’t be operated on.”
A tragic ending for a dying father of three children
Brett had a seizure only three months after this horrible doctor’s visit. Unfortunately, this occurred just as Nicola was about to give birth to their third child. Nicola explains that all she wanted was for him to meet his little baby before he passed away. She claims that the professionals did everything they could to keep Brett alive for as long as possible. Nicola’s mother drove her and the baby to her father’s hospital bed.
“It was like a race against time to make sure we were ok but could get going [to the hospital he was in. I knew what was gonna happen and I wanted him to know that it was ok. I told him it’s ok, don’t hurt yourself anymore.“
Nicola then placed her newborn daughter in her husband’s arms and described her appearance to him. The dying father of three was just allowed to greet his new baby before passing away. He died after only a few hours of spending time with her. On February 11, 2019, at 5:07 a.m., their daughter was born. Brett died at 8:25 a.m. on the same day.
