A 73-year-old woman from New Orleans had her arm torn off in a carjacking by four high schoolers

After the victim bled to death on the street, their parents turned them in
After a woman was dragged to death in a carjacking, four teens were caught in New Orleans.
Linda Frickey, 73, died on the street on Monday when her arm was ripped off during the robbery in broad daylight.
The young suspects apparently tried to kick her out of her 2021 Nissan, but she was still tangled in her seatbelt, and they allegedly sped away while she was still attached to the vehicle, according to her relatives.
On Monday, the NOLA PD released CCTV footage of the four high school suspects:
They had all four of the suspects in jail by Tuesday: a 17-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, and two 15-year-old girls.
One of the 15-year-old girls was the first to be detained, according to police, after her mother turned her in. After the boy suspect’s parents tipped off investigators, the boy and one of the girls were detained. Tuesday morning, the last girl suspect surrendered.
Each of the four was charged with one count of second-degree murder.
“Police will not publicize the suspects’ identities or images because they are juveniles,” NOPD said in a statement.
Frickey was still alive as witnesses tried in vain to help; one good Samaritan informed Fox8 that he spent about 5 minutes trying to phone 911 without getting a response while the victim bled death in front of him.
The call was received at 1:36 p.m., according to Beau Tidwell of the Mayor’s Office, and the alarm was sent less than a minute later.
“Units were dispatched less than two minutes after that call was received, and they were on their way at 1:38 PM,” he said. “NOPD arrived at 1:43 p.m., and EMS arrived at 1:47 p.m.”

JinnyLynn Griffin, Linda’s younger sister, told the source, “Linda was fighting to survive. When this happened, she was 73 years old and still alive, waiting for an ambulance. She was a fighter in every sense of the word. This is completely absurd.”
“I can’t stress this enough: they decided to murder her when they pulled away and she was in that strap. They should be made responsible.”
Linda, who was still selling life insurance at the age of 73, was one month away from retiring and looking forward to spending more time with her granddaughter, who was seven years old.
Kathy Richard, her inconsolable sister-in-law, claimed, “I just opened the door, kicked, tried to kick her loose… but it didn’t work. How are you going to kick her? It’s simply incomprehensible. It’s evil.”

“You don’t just go from being a kid in school to killing someone by taking a walk. It was a murder. It was a heinous crime.”
“If Linda lived to be 100 years old, she’d still be helping everyone,” she concluded, her eyes welling up with tears. “She won’t be able to attend her son’s wedding next year. Her youngest granddaughter is barely seven years old. She wasn’t able to spend enough time with her. She simply did not deserve to be treated in that manner.”
“These guys would most likely be forgiven by her. They’d be forgiven, she’d say. Taking her away from her grandchild is perhaps the only thing she won’t forgive them for.”

The horrible occurrence, according to Mayor LaToya Cantrell, was “totally unacceptable.”
“I will continue to pray for the family, as well as for the spirit of our resident, who perished at the hands of our community’s young people.”
She praised the officers for being “aggressive and relentless” in their pursuit of the adolescent suspects.
“I’d also like to thank one of our parents for taking the initiative and telling her daughter. You have to tell the truth and give it to them straight. This young man or woman did.”
