To marry a commoner, a japanese princess refuses $1.3 million and gives up her royal title
A Princess gives up her status to marry the guy she loves in this stunning true love story from Japan. It’s a true story of how true love can transcend all barriers if two individuals are determined to love each other enough.
Male royals can marry whoever they want without losing any of their royal titles or benefits in Japan, but female royals must give up their royal titles if they marry a commoner.
When they were both in college, Princess Mako fell in love with Kei Komuro. They’ve been profoundly in love since then, and they were well aware of the challenges they’d face when they first started dating. Mako understood that in order to remain with Kei, she would have to give up all of her privileges, including her title and the $1.3 million she spent on her royal wedding, which went against her family’s desires.
Princess Mako made the decision to give up everything for love. After a few obstacles, the couple got engaged and married in 2017. According to an NHK story, Mako spoke about her feelings, as reported by the BBC:
“I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused and I am grateful for those… who have continued to support me,”
“For me, Kei is irreplaceable – marriage was a necessary choice for us.”
Mako suffered from a lot of post-traumatic stress as a result of all of the toxicity surrounding her relationship and marriage, according to the Imperial Household Agency. It even caused a demonstration in Tokyo. However, the couple fought together and remained strong throughout the struggle.
According to AFP, Kei expressed his feelings regarding the situation:
“I love Mako. We only get one life, and I want us to spend it with the one we love.”
“I feel very sad that Mako has been in a bad condition, mentally and physically, because of the false accusations.”
Always choose love!
If Mako and Kei’s amazing journey teaches us anything, it’s that genuine love can accomplish anything. When two individuals are deeply in love, they can achieve everything they set their minds to, regardless of the repercussions or challenges. We wish Mako and Kei a long and happy marriage; all the respect for choosing love!
